Dr. Courtney Dang
Dr. Courtney Dang is a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma specialist. She was born and raised in Austin, where she attended the University of Texas for undergrad (Hook ‘em!) and then went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston.
While Dr. Dang wears glasses and contacts herself, her mom has actually had two retinal detachments. Her mom’s ability to live a normal and active life thanks to medical intervention is what sparked her interest in eye care.
As part of her optometric education, she completed internships in private practice, community clinics, and Indian health services where she gained experience in treating dry eye, ocular disease and managing ocular surgeries. She loves her profession because it allows her to connect with people and gain a deeper understanding of their eyes.
When she’s not at work, she loves reading, watching movies, and staying active. You might catch her at your local bookstore or yoga studio. Every year she goes to the Austin City Limits festival with her husband. In addition to live music, she enjoys good barbecue and swimming in Barton Springs. She is a native Austinite through and through!
